Be a wise person
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs is a book of wisdom, teaching people how to be wise and smart. The opposite of a wise person is a foolish and evil person. Here, “the fear of the Lord” is not telling you to be scared of God and to avoid Him, instead, it refers to your relationship with God should be one of respect and obedience to His words. This way, God will show more of His plans in your life and bless you with wisdom and understanding.
How is the relationship between you and God?
□ I don’t really know Him
□ I worship Him at church
□ I pray and speak to God
□ God listens to my prayers and helps me
□ I learn about God though the Bible
□ I will do what God says in the Bible
Proverbs teaches us that there are many types of people in this world, some of which are foolish and do not value wisdom and teaching. If we choose to be a wise person, not a fool, we should begin with “fearing God”. King Solomon, Christians and other wise people, such as Nightingale and Dr. King, they were endowed with God’s wisdom, had completed God’s plan and contributed greatly to the world.
Dear Heavenly Father, please give me wisdom so I can get to know you better, understand the Bible, and am willing to do according to the teachings of the Bible. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
