Mark 15:29-41

(Mark 15:34)

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?”–which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

Jesus was ridiculed for “he saved others but could not save himself”. Did Jesus come down from the cross to save himself because of this?

Jesus is the Son of God, there is nothing He cannot do, of course He can save himself. But when those who did not believe in Jesus insulted and mocked Him, He did not come down from the cross to save Himself. Because Jesus loves us so much, He came to the world to replace us who sinned by doing something God dislikes, accept God’s punishment, and be crucified so that we can be forgiven by God and come to save us.

Let’s take a look at the story of “Jesus was crucified”~

  1. To ridicule:to accuse another with sarcasm.
  2. Shen:The name of the hour, about three to five in the afternoon.
  3. Midday:twelve noon.

Jesus did not sin, but was punished by God instead of us who sinned, and saved us. We should stop doing things that God doesn’t like, stop sinning, and only then can we repay Jesus’ grace of going to the cross for us.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for coming into this world to save me. Thank you Jesus for suffering on the cross for me, thank you for loving me so much and for giving me such great grace! Help me, Jesus, to love you more and to be a good witness for you. In the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen!
