Mark 15:42-16:8

( Mark 16:6)

“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

When Jesus died, who buried Him?

On the Sabbath, according to the Law of Moses, the dead body should be removed from the cross so that the holy place would not be cursed. Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus to be buried in his tomb. Joseph wrapped the body in a linen cloth and placed it in the tomb. A large stone was rolled to block the door of the tomb. After the Sabbath, the women were going to anoint the body of Jesus. They were afraid that they would not be able to move the stone from the door of the tomb, but they found that the stone had been rolled away and an angel was sitting in the tomb. The women were very frightened. The angel asked the women to tell the disciples to go to Galilee to find Jesus, because Jesus had promised that he would go to Galilee after his resurrection. But they were scared and didn’t tell anyone.

  1. Joseph of Arimathea: Arimathea means Highland. He was a rich man and a well-respected member of the Sanhedrin, a good and upright man who secretly became a disciple of Jesus because he was afraid of the Jews.
  2. Mary Magdalene: Born in Magdalene, Jesus cast out seven demons from her. (Mark 16:9: Luke 8:2)

Jesus was resurrected and told the women to tell the disciples, but they didn’t believe it; in life, do I really believe in Jesus and the Bible, and listen to his words?

Dear Heavenly Father, I praise Jesus as the Risen Lord! Because of love, the Lord Jesus was crucified on the cross for our sins, so that we can be connected with the Father and forgive our sins. In the name of the Lord Jesus, amen.
